कर्ण उवाच या नः श्रुता मनुष्येषु स्त्रियो रूपेण संमताः तासामेतादृशं कर्म न कस्यांचन शुश्रुमः
Karṇa said: "Among all women in humankind, renowned for their beauty, we have not seen, nor heard, of the accomplishment of such a deed.
कर्ण ने कहा: "मानव जाति की सभी महिलाओं में से, जो अपनी सुंदरता के लिए प्रसिद्ध हैं, हमने ऐसा कोई कार्य करते हुए नहीं देखा है, न ही सुना है।
When the sons of Pṛthā and the sons of Dhṛtarāṣṭra were raging in anger, Kṛṣṇā Draupadī brought solace.
जब पृथा के पुत्र और धृतराष्ट्र के पुत्र क्रोध से भड़क रहे थे, तब कृष्ण द्रौपदी ने सांत्वना दी।
The sons of Pāṇḍu were immersed and drowning in an ocean without a boat. Pāñcālī became their boat and brought them safely ashore."
पाण्डु के पुत्र बिना नाव के ही समुद्र में डूब रहे थे। पंचाली उनकी नाव बन गई और उन्हें सुरक्षित तट पर ले आई।"
Vaiśampāyana said: Having heard the words that a woman had become the salvation for the sons of Pāṇḍu, Bhīmasena was extremely hurt. In the midst of the Kuru-s, he said unhappily,
वैशम्पायन ने कहा: यह वचन सुनकर कि एक स्त्री पाण्डु पुत्रों के लिए मोक्ष बन गई, भीमसेन को बहुत दुख हुआ। कुरु-वंश के बीच में उन्होंने अप्रसन्नता से कहा,

त्रीणि ज्योतींषि पुरुष इति वै देवलोऽब्रवीत् अपत्यं कर्म विद्या च यतः सृष्टाः प्रजास्ततः
"Devala has said that there are three stars for a man—offspring, deeds and learning, since these are the source of creation.
"देवला ने कहा है कि मनुष्य के लिए तीन सितारे हैं-संतान, कर्म और सीख, क्योंकि यही सृजन का स्रोत हैं।
When the body has lost life and is hollow and impure, discarded by relatives, these are the three that survive.
जब शरीर प्राण खो देता है और खोखला और अशुद्ध हो जाता है, रिश्तेदारों द्वारा त्याग दिया जाता है, तो ये तीन ही जीवित रहते हैं।

तन्नो ज्योतिरभिहतं दाराणामभिमर्शनात् धनंजय कथं स्वित्स्यादपत्यमभिमृष्टजम्
But our light has become dark, because our wife has been humiliated. O Dhanañjayā! How can offspring from a defiled one serve any purpose?"
परन्तु हमारा प्रकाश अन्धियारा हो गया है, क्योंकि हमारी पत्नी अपमानित हुई है। हे धनंजय! किसी अपवित्र व्यक्ति की संतान किसी उद्देश्य की पूर्ति कैसे कर सकती है?"

अर्जुन उवाच न चैवोक्ता न चानुक्ता हीनतः परुषा गिरः भारताः प्रतिजल्पन्ति सदा तूत्तमपूरुषाः
Arjuna replied, : "The Bhārata-s do not talk about words from inferior men, uttered or not uttered. They only converse about those from superior men.
अर्जुन ने उत्तर दिया, : "भारतवासी निम्नतर पुरुषों के शब्दों के बारे में बात नहीं करते, चाहे बोले गए हों या नहीं बोले गए हों। वे केवल श्रेष्ठ पुरुषों के शब्दों के बारे में बात करते हैं।

स्मरन्ति सुकृतान्येव न वैराणि कृतानि च सन्तः प्रतिविजानन्तो लब्ध्वा प्रत्ययमात्मनः
They remember good deeds and not enmity that has been shown. They know only the good because they have confidence in their own selves."
वे अच्छे कर्मों को याद रखते हैं न कि दिखाई गई दुश्मनी को। वे केवल अच्छा ही जानते हैं क्योंकि उन्हें खुद पर भरोसा है।"
Bhīmā said: "Right now, I will kill all the enemies who have assembled here. O Indra among kings! O descendant of the Bhārata lineage! Shall I tear them up by their roots?
भीम ने कहा: "अभी, मैं यहां इकट्ठे हुए सभी शत्रुओं को मार डालूंगा। हे राजाओं में इंद्र! हे भरत वंश के वंशज! क्या मैं उन्हें जड़ से उखाड़ फेंकूं?"
O descendant of the Bhārata lineage! Where is the need to debate this or suffer? Here and now, I am going to kill all of them and you can rule the earth without a rival."
हे भरत वंश के वंशज! इस पर बहस करने या कष्ट सहने की जरूरत कहां है? यहीं और अभी, मैं उन सभी को मारने जा रहा हूं और आप बिना किसी प्रतिद्वंद्वी के पृथ्वी पर शासन कर सकते हैं।"
Vaiśampāyana said: Having said this, Bhīmasena, surrounded by his younger brothers, glanced at his club, like a lion in the midst of deer.
वैशम्पायन ने कहा: यह कहकर भीमसेन ने, अपने छोटे भाइयों से घिरे हुए, अपनी गदा की ओर ऐसे देखा, जैसे हिरणों के बीच में शेर हो।

सान्त्व्यमानो वीज्यमानः पार्थेनाक्लिष्टकर्मणा स्विद्यते च महाबाहुरन्तर्दाहेन वीर्यवान्
Pārtha, whose deeds are unblemished, pacified him and cooled him. But the mighty-armed and valorous one streamed with anger.
पार्थ ने, जिनके कर्म निष्कलंक हैं, उन्हें शान्त किया और शीतल किया। परन्तु वह महाबाहु और वीर क्रोध से भर उठा।
O lord of men! He was so angry that smoke, sparks and flaming fire issued from his ears and other openings in his body.
हे मनुष्यों के स्वामी! वह इतना क्रोधित था कि उसके कानों और शरीर के अन्य छिद्रों से धुआं, चिंगारी और धधकती आग निकलने लगी।
His brows were furrowed and his face was terrible to behold, like Yāma's form when destruction at the end of a yuga is near.
उसकी भौंहें तनी हुई थीं और उसका चेहरा देखने में भयानक था, जैसे युग के अंत में विनाश निकट होने पर यम का रूप हो।

युधिष्ठिरस्तमावार्य बाहुना बाहुशालिनम् मैवमित्यब्रवीच्चैनं जोषमास्स्वेति भारत
O descendant of the Bhārata lineage! Yudhiṣṭhira restrained the mighty-armed one with his arms. He told him not to act in this way and to be quiet.
हे भरत वंश के वंशज! युधिष्ठिर ने अपनी भुजाओं से महाबाहु को रोक लिया। उन्होंने उससे इस तरह की हरकत न करने और चुप रहने को कहा।
Having restrained the mighty-armed one, whose eyes were red with anger, Yudhiṣṭhira approached his father Dhṛtarāṣṭra, his hands joined in salutation.
क्रोध से लाल नेत्रों वाले महाबाहु को रोककर युधिष्ठिर अपने पिता धृतराष्ट्र के पास आये और उनके हाथ नमस्कार में जुड़े हुए थे।
